Gas is one of the main energy sources when you are going to have a camping trip, and you want to enjoy some meal in nature. That means you need to heat, cook, and grill with gas. Therefore, besides be well-prepared for best camping tents, utensils, it is wise to familiarize yourself with gas and gas consumption, before heading off to camp.
Gas consumptionHow much gas is used on the trip depends on several things:
- How cold is it outside?
- What temperature would be indoors?
- Are there other sources of energy than gas, such as central heating or electric underfloor heating?
- How often do you make the food?
- Does the refrigerator run on gas or electricity?
Several types of gas bottlesThere is a various types of gas bottles to choose from regard to size and weight. The relatively new lightweight gas cylinders have the advantage that they weigh less and are transparent, so you can easily see how much gas is left. Steel cylinders weigh the filled and emptied state, so we know approximately when they are empty - and otherwise when we run out of it. Lightweight bottles available as 5, 6, 10 and 13 kg bottles. Steel cylinders are available from 2 to 11 kilos.
Gas is not harmlessGas bottles must stand upright and preferably in the gas box. Never take gas into the carriage. It is important that you respect this equipment and treat it carefully. It must not exceed 2:11 kilo gas bottles in a caravan or motorhome. Gas Installations are for professionals. Never even adjust or repair the system. All gas equipment must be approved. Read carefully all warning labels on the equipment. Be careful at the bottle breaks. Please check your installation regularly. When you smell gas, so turn off all appliances and the main switch. Installation of gas cylinderThere are several different installing systems from screw valve to click valve. Bottles for caravan and motorhome is installed by putting on the gas bottle regulator. It is done as follows:
- Press the black bottom ring upwards.
- Set the regulator on the cylinder valve.
- The black bottom ring pressed down, until you hear a click. Clicked is important, it means that the gas can come out of the bottle.
- Flip the lever arm on the regulator from closed to open.
- Close gas
- Click the black bottom ring up and take control of the bottle.
- Remember to put the bottle cap on the gas bottle.
- The controller can be applied to a new filled bottle.
